A Small Change to Andy's Substack ...

I have decided to introduce paid subscriptions but with a big difference. When I started this Substack, I promised that all articles would be free to read forever, and this will continue to be the case. I write articles here because I enjoy doing so and I hope you find them interesting and sometimes, even entertaining. However like many other authors, I have found that writing articles of quality does take a good deal of effort. For example, my next post which will be published shortly took me 24 hours of work to research and write.

Therefore I am introducing paid subscriptions but on an entirely voluntary basis. My posts will continue to be free to read but should you think that they are worth your time and are informative, and if you are a generous soul, you can, if you wish, take out a paid subscription.

I have set the prices to as low a level as possible or that I think is reasonable and/or that Substack will allow. They are:

• £3.50 per month (the minimum monthly fee imposed by Substack for some unknown reason)

• £30 per year as a standard subscriber

• £36 per year as a ‘founder’ subscriber

I stress again that paid subscriptions are entirely voluntary. All posts will remain free to read and will not be paywalled, ever. You will not receive email teasers about my articles that stop half way through or that advertise a ‘claim my free post’ option. That is not to denigrate the many excellent professional journalists who use these options, after all they do earn their living by writing whereas I do not.
